Mykonos, the island of the Winds, continues to be a magnet for VIPs, recently hosting both the world-renowned singer Jason Derulo and the ultra-luxurious superyacht “Kaos” belonging to Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie.
Jason Derulo, the 36-year-old American star, known for hits like “Talk Dirty to Me” and “Savage Love,” was spotted by Mykonos Live TV at the renowned seafood restaurant Spilia.
This isn’t Derulo’s first visit to Mykonos; in 2022, he combined a concert at SantAnna with a vacation to rest and recharge. The American star appeared bare-chested at the concert, which was held at the famous beach bar restaurant at Paraga beach.
Derulo boasts an impressive career with 11 platinum singles, 14 billion streams, and six billion views on YouTube, with single sales reaching 250 million worldwide.
Derulo’s music is generally pop, but also incorporates R&B and hip-hop influences. He has predominantly named Michael Jackson as his inspiration. Derulo states “He is the reason I am who I am today. When I was 4 years old, I saw him for the first time. I saw how he moved the crowd and how people were just so touched”. His other musical influences include Elvis Presley, Madonna, Prince, Usher and Justin Timberlake
Adding to the island’s allure, Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie’s $300 million superyacht “Kaos” has anchored in Ornos Bay. This ultra-luxurious vessel, originally commissioned for the Emir of Qatar and completed in 2017 as “Jubilee,” is a masterpiece of design.
It held the distinction of being the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands at the time.
It features elaborate sculptures, Crystal Caviar lighting, silk carpets, Iranian white onyx, and Golden Spider stone. “Kaos” is equipped with four deck levels, including a magnificent owner’s suite, a helipad, an aquarium, a 12-person cinema, spa facilities, a bar with smoke machines and DJ equipment, and accommodations for 31 guests and 45 crew members.
It even includes a separate gym for the crew, a small hospital, and a fleet of watercraft. Nancy Walton Laurie’s fortune is estimated at $15 billion.
Mykonos has cultivated a reputation as a playground for A-listers for several compelling reasons, blending natural beauty with a highly developed luxury tourism infrastructure.
The island boasts an abundance of five-star resorts, private villas with infinity pools, and boutique hotels, offering unparalleled comfort, stunning views, and top-tier amenities.
Concierge services are meticulously designed to fulfill every celebrity’s whim, from private chefs and luxury transportation (including private helicopter and yacht charters) to VIP club access and dedicated security personnel.
The sheer expense of a Mykonos vacation naturally filters out mass tourism, contributing to an exclusive atmosphere where A-listers feel more at ease among peers.
