Numerous scientists in Greece across various disciplines count among the best 1,000 worldwide in 2024, according to the index compiled by Research.com, a leading scientific organization that publishes rankings of universities, researchers, academic conferences, and journals.
The index is based on data gathered from a wide range of bibliometric sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef. Position in the ranking is based on a scientist’s general H-index, an author-level metric that measures both the productivity and citation impact of the publications, initially used for an individual scientist or scholar.
The H-index correlates with success indicators such as winning the Nobel Prize, being accepted for research fellowships, and holding positions at top universities. It is based on the scientist’s set of most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications.
