Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirmed on Wednesday that the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris will be filming on location in Mykonos. The announcement was made during a high-level Cabinet meeting.
According to reports, the Prime Minister shared the news while Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and the CEO of the Hellenic Center for Creative Media (EKKOMED) were presenting a five-year strategic plan for the Greek film industry. Mitsotakis informed ministers that the production is scheduled to arrive on the “Island of the Winds” this May.
Jokingly, the Prime Minister even invited any interested members of the Cabinet to “hurry up” if they want to secure a cameo appearance.
TMitsotakis is known to adore the show, and as lead actress Lily Collins remarked recently, that after a long day, he likes to go home and watch it with his wife.
Following the massive success of Season 5, which dominated global charts with nearly 27 million views in under two weeks, series creator Darren Star has confirmed that Season 6 will take Lily Collins’ titular character to the sun-drenched shores of the Aegean and the high-octane glamour of Monaco.
Local businesses and fans are now in a state of “anticipation” as they prepare to welcome Lily Collins and the rest of the star-studded cast.
The move is seen as a significant win for Greece’s efforts to establish itself as a premier global filming destination, leveraging the show’s massive international reach to boost luxury tourism.
